My father doing his angioplasty today

My father, who has been suffering for multiple coronary blockages since 1998, will undergo angioplasty procedure at IJN. This morning, Senior Cardiology Consultant Dato' Dr. Robaayah Zambahari will slit his artery on the thigh and do an angiogram again, before putting one or two stent devices.

He did his first angiogram in Assunta Hospital September 1998, in the midst of the height of 'Reformasi'. In early 1999, he was admitted in IJN for a mild heart attack. He has been under the care of Dr. Robaayah and IJN ever since.

Yesterday, he checked into IJN, in preparation of this morning's procedure. His sisters popped by to visit and gave him encouragement.

He waited all day long to be called for the proceedure. There was power interruptions at 10am. Finally, after postponement at 10am and 2 pm, at 5pm, they wheeled him out to Level 1.

Left: He was picked up for the angiogram and angioplasty

He was out in less than half an hour. After the angiogram, Dato' Dr. Robaayah Zambahari and his team reviewed the angiogram and decided not to proceed with the angioplasty. Instead, he is recommended to do a by-pass.

Right: After he came back from the angiogram, his trolley was parked at the Melati Suite, where Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad recuperated after ICU

She will make an appointment for him to talk with Dato' Mr. Azahari Yakub, Dato' Dr. Venugopal, Dr. Rais Sanusi or if he'd prefer, Tan Sri Mr. Yahya Awang at Damansara Specialists Hospital.

So, he'll need a bypass now. That's okay. With all the star players(cardio-surgeons) around, insyaALLAH they will do a good job.

( I read your experience at kerp's entry, what you went through in 2005, I take my hats off to you. I have seen many who gave up when they have that type of complications. I do not know what I'll do if I am in your shoes.
Cirrhosis or no cirrhosis ,Girl-girl will have the best of her life from you and her mommy. She'll have the quality time absent from most other kids nowadays.
I have read and seen pics of you and your family and from Girl-girl's expression I know she is one lucky girl,to have a strong willed daddy.

And I agree totally that everything that happenned to us, there is definitely a rahmat behind it.

Doc TA,

That was really kind of you. Both of us tried our best to give Girl-Girl the fullest opportunity in life while she is growing up:

Regular national type school where the children depicts the demography of a modern Klang Valley society, supplementary religious education in Govt managed school (she managed to Khatam Quran on her 9th birthday!), sports like tennis swimming and now Go-Karting, music and arts (she takes piano & ballet lessons), we allow her to experiment and express herself, freely, hence the Blog and we gave her tonnes of reading materials to thrive into, of which she has the neck for it.

We also introduced her to classics such as "My Fair Lady", "The Sound of Music", "King and I", "Mary Poppins" and "Grease". She has been in local production of Dato' Onn, Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka, Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical, P Ramlee the Musical and Malam Puisi Negara.

She also has been in Cats, La Miserable and Moulin Rouge.

She gets the best is nothing less than 'religion', to me. God 'loaned' her to me, the very least I could do is to make sure she gets the best in everything I am able to provide.

Zawi,

Thanks a lot for the kind thoughts

Doc Dzulhisham, Mat Faisal and Danny Kerpie,

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I really appreciate it.

I took my dad to see my cardiologist (who is a friend from school) at Damansara Specialist Hospital (the same Dr. who did an angiogram on him in August and recommended a stent angioplasty procedure on him).

He will take the case to Tan Sri Mr. Yahya Awang, the cardiothoracic surgeon in DSH and discuss it with him. If Tan Sri says its worthwhile, then an appointment will be made to consult him and further test, prior to the by=pass surgery.

Could be as early as early December.

Thanks again
